Steps to Completing a Successful Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom remodeling can be complicated. Depending on the extent of the remodel you are considering there may be many sub-contractors involved in the project. Unless you are an advanced home project craftsperson you should not attempt a bathroom remodel on your own, remember the entire time the remodel is taking place the bathroom can be out of use. These steps to successful bathroom remodeling can lead to the project going quickly and smoothly.

Five Steps to Successful Bathroom Remodeling

  1. Work with your available space...Unless you are expanding your bathroom you have a set amount of space to use. When you are picking new fixtures make sure they will fit into your space comfortably.
  2. Work with a budget...Figure out how much you want to spend on new fixtures. Visit some home improvement stores to get an idea on costs. You don't want to decide on a high end whirlpool tub and have no budget left for a vanity.
  3. Get an idea on lead times...Many times fixtures need to be ordered. You don't want to start tearing out tubs and showers, and find out that it will be 6 weeks until the new tub arrives.
  4. Apply for any needed Permits...Local jurisdictions require Permits prior to work starting. Sometimes Permit Offices can be overloaded with applications.
  5. Hire a good Contractor...Get references, check their previous work, get an estimate, and a signed Contract. You should also get a time frame for the project. If you have already made all of the decisions as to the materials to be used, and lead times have been taken into account, there should be no reason for the job not to go quickly.

Following these steps to successful bathroom remodeling should result in a stress free, and smoothly running project.
